Collection: Elevate, Empower Autumn 2018
When storm clouds are brewing, we reach for that which gives us strength: hope, unity and courage. The world we find ourselves in is increasingly turbulent and unsettled; in spite of all this (or perhaps because of it) we seek to come together rather than divide. The advent of Autumn in particular has us searching for an inner fortitude, and a sartorial arsenal that can communicate this.
Strong women are cut from many different cloths, and the inspiration they gift us is woven throughout all that we do, reflected in the diverse spectrum of footwear we’ve designed this season. We’ve also sought to acknowledge the many facets of our lives through togetherness rather than division, so our collection aims to transcend both season and occasion.
Power dressing has made a timely return in this time of geopolitical uncertainty, and the shadow of the 80s looms over the season with angular nostalgia, kitten heels sit alongside sock boots, toes are pointed or square, and vamps cut as high as possible to cover and protect. Traditional silhouettes are reinvented through a modernist lens, in a palette of dusty taupes, pastels and dark rose, with an injection of sage and wine. Indulgent trims and heels speak to the power of unabashed, unapologetic ornamentation, while high gloss finishes channel the slick luxury of the era.
Purpose is also at front of mind for us, and captures a movement towards a more conscious, respectful and united future. To capture this sense of strength and empowerment, we shot our campaign in the architecturally peaceful Auckland Art Gallery, the perfect backdrop for the quiet confidence and presence of our two models, Raina and Chelsea. Lensed by Mara Sommer and styled by Paris Mitchel, two women who continually inspire us with their drive and humility.
